Depending on the company, the French employment process may require you pass a psychometric evaluation. This evaluation, will be either in-house or through an external company who conducts the exam. For more information on how to manipulate the results of psychometric evaluations, refer to the c14ism manual.
In any case, you are legally authorized access to the evaluator’s notes and evaluation within 1 month of taking the test. If you got the job, then the results may be of little importance to you. However if you didn’t get the job, then you will most likely want this information out to help you in your future jobsearch.
To obtain the results of your psychometric evaluation, send the following letter via email to the psychometric evaluator:
(Insert your name, address, telephone number, date and time of evaluation, and name of company who requested the test)
Je vous prie d’agréer, Madame, Monsieur, l’expression de mes salutations distinguées.
(Insert your name)
Tips for handling the psychometric evaluation:
- The +100 question personality section is designed to confuse even native French speakers. So bring a French > English dictionary with you and don’t be afraid to ask the evaluator to clarify sentences you do not understand. Although the dictionary won’t help you translate the French slang and nuances of the language, it will make some of the translation easier.
- Remember that the French, in their search for ‘the perfect person for the job’, can be close minded, and compare word-for-word the contents of your CV to the official French legal listing of the job you are applying for, and ANY incongruence will most likely result in a disqualification.
- Some companies have a policy stating that if you fail the psychometric evaluation for employment with their company, then you are ineligible to work for them for up to 2-3 years.
- Never forget that ignorance of the your legal rights is NOT an excuse, and it is ALL your fault if you do not know and you are taken advantage of. Therefore always update yourself on the laws and legal process, and your rights BEFORE you enter the evaluaton.
